Monthly Recycling Drop Off

 

Spring Valley’s recycling drop-off is the 2nd Saturday of every month, from 9 a.m. – noon in the parking lot of the Rock County Public Works Garage just north of Orfordville on Hwy. 213.

Upcoming dates are:  – October 14th  – November 11  – December 9

You do not need to sort your recyclables, but there are some rules to follow.  Here is some more information: 2016 Newsletter side 2

Please help keep materials out of the landfills, and help your Town continue receiving its recycling grant from the State of Wisconsin!


Annual Meeting of Electors Tues., April 18th

The Annual Meeting of the Town of Spring Valley electors will be held Tues., April 18, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the regular meeting place, being the Orfordville Fire District meeting room at 173 N. Wright St., Orfordville, WI 53576.  At town meetings of electors, any voting-eligible resident may discuss and vote on* topics of interest to them regarding the town.

The Annual Meeting will be followed immediately by the regular monthly Board meeting.  The date of the April Board meeting varies from the normal schedule of the 2nd Monday of the month, in order to coincide with the Annual Meeting, the date of which is set by State statute.

*Electors of the Town may vote on Annual Meeting items as authorized in s. 60.10 and s. 60.11 Wis. Statutes.

2017 Dog Licensing Reminder

Remember to license your dog for this year!
According to state law every dog over 5 months old must be licensed and have a rabies
vaccination.
Payments can be made by mail or at my home when I’m available. Please enclose a copy of

Spring Election April 4, 2017

 

The spring election will be held on April 4, 2017.

A public test of the electronic voting equipment will be held Monday, March 27th at 2:00 p.m. at the Orfordville Fire Station.

2016 Property Taxes

2016 Property Tax bills were mailed on December 12th.  If you do not receive yours or if you have questions on your tax bill, contact Town Treasurer Janet Hillison at 608.289.3902.  Payments are made through the Rock County Treasurers office.  Details are provided in the newsletter enclosed with your tax bill and at the links below.  Dog licensing, recycling, and other information is also listed.

Landlords – if you have tenants residing in the Town of Spring Valley, please have them contact Clerk Julie Gerke or Treasurer Janet Hillison so we can send them a newsletter; or refer them to this website posting.

2017 Budget Public Hearing

On Monday, November 28, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. a public hearing will be held on the Proposed 2017 Budget for the Town of Spring Valley.

Immediately following the public hearing a special town meeting of the electors will be held, at which electors of the Town adopt the 2016 Town levy to be paid in 2017.

General Election November 8, 2016

The next election will be the general election on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Orfordville Fire Station, 173 N. Wright Street in Orfordville.  Questions about the election, registering to vote, or absentee voting can be directed to the Town Clerk, Julie Gerke, at  (608) 897-5092, or svclerk@ckhweb.com.

New voters or those with changes to their name or address can also register to vote at the Rock County Clerk’s office at the Courthouse, 51 S. Main St., Janesville, WI 53545 through Wednesday, October 19th.  http://www.co.rock.wi.us/countyclerk

You can request to vote absentee by mail at any time, and ballots will be sent when they become available. In-person absentee voting will begin in the Town of Spring Valley on Monday, October 3rd.  All in-person absentee voting is by scheduled appointment.  See the clerk contact information above.  Please note that the voter ID law is in effect when applying for an absentee ballot.
