This autumn the Town of Spring Valley went through the process of adopting a town tax levy that exceeds the amount allowed by the State. It was an involved process that brought up a variety of questions and concerns among the residents and landowners.
At the public hearing and special town meeting on November 27, 2017, the town electors adopted the proposed 50% town levy limit increase, and approved the 2017 town tax levy, payable in 2018, of $183,864. (The actual increase in total taxes being collected in Spring Valley is less than $13,000; just over 1% more than last year.)
The additional tax money levied will be used for road improvement projects. Spring Valley has also applied for grant money to help fund the projects.
The Spring Valley Town Board appreciates the interest and participation of the Town electors in this process. If you have further questions on the levy or road improvement projects please contact a Town Board member or the Clerk, or attend an upcoming board meeting. Board contact information and a clerk contact form are available from the menu bar at the top of our home page. Board meetings are normally held the second Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Orfordville Fire Station, 173 N. Wright St. See the ‘Agendas and Minutes’ page and the calendar for more detailed meeting information.
